Why It Works

Five minutes
that are yours.

Burning incense is an old mindfulness practice. At Sibicura we bring it into everyday life — five minutes, and nothing you have to do.

Why it works
Pause · Breath · Scent

Why five minutes are enough.

You don't need a perfect morning routine, and you don't have to learn how to meditate properly first. You just need a moment that lifts you out of the momentum of the day.

Sibicura makes that moment visible: light, set down, breathe.

  1. 01

    The pause interrupts.

Even micro-breaks of a few minutes measurably lower fatigue and lift energy. For five minutes, nothing has to be done, answered or decided.

You stop pushing on – and come back to yourself.

  2. 02

    The breath calms.

The smoke rises slowly. Watch it, and you almost automatically breathe deeper. With every long exhale the vagus nerve answers: the pulse drops, the body switches from tension to recovery. In a randomised study, five minutes a day were enough for a better mood and calmer breathing.

There's nothing you need to know how to do. Just breathe.

  3. 03

    The scent reminds.

Smell is the only sense that reaches the brain's emotional centre directly – no detour through thinking. That is why a scent works before you can name it. Used again and again for the same pause, it becomes a familiar signal:

    My moment begins now.

Why exactly five minutes?

Because self-care shouldn't be one more task on your list. Five minutes are long enough to interrupt, breathe consciously and change the moment. And short enough that you don't have to wait for the perfect time.

The scent gives the signal.
The pause is yours.

How the ritual works

In three steps.

01

Prepare

Find a quiet spot. Set your Sibicura holder on a heat-resistant surface and open a window a crack.

02

Light it

Light the stick and gently blow the flame out. Set it on the holder.

03

Settle in

Sit down and breathe. Five minutes are enough for the moment that matters. The stick burns longer — you can press the ember out in the holder and light it again later.

Sibicura incense sticks – close-up, hand-rolled from recycled flowers

Our incense.

Made from the flowers left over at temples and festivals, which would otherwise be thrown away. No bamboo, no charcoal, no synthetic oils. Made with partners we know personally and have vetted ourselves — fair pay, conditions we can see.

A small note on use: always place the holder on a heat-resistant surface and never leave a stick burning unattended. Ash falls — a little distance from fabric and paper helps. Wipe the holder with a dry cloth after it has burned down, and it stays free of marks.
